Olive Tree Arts, a ministry of Christian Fellowship Church in Evansville, IN will not be hosting an exhibition for 2013. We would like to thank all area artists that participated in our past exhibitions for making them so successful. We will prayerfully seek to determine what the future brings in providing a venue for the local and regional art community in the Tri-state.
For many years, the church was the primary patron of the arts. Over time, this patronage regrettably waned. We want to return to an era where the arts are not opposed to the church, but embraced by the church. We are hoping to cultivate a community of artists and art patrons who celebrate God through the engagement of the arts.
Olive Tree Arts was born out of a desire to invite all area artists regardless of their faith to seek the scriptures for inspiration for their art. We believe that artists are spiritual people, and they desire opportunities to express their spirituality through their art. Through this expression, we hope that local artists find patrons for their work, and we ultimately hope conversations are begun about the things that matter most.
In 2009 we introduced our first themed, juried art show & sale, ‘Beginnings.’ Nearly 200 local artists participated in our inaugural event which was one of the most well received exhibitions of original art in the Evansville community.
Several thousand people visited the exhibition, and more than 30% of the pieces in the show sold. In 2010, we built on the success of “Beginnings” and expanded our reach into the local community through ‘Compassion.’
