Olive Tree Arts is proud to announce this year’s people’s choice award winner.
The people’s choice award is given to the piece that receives the most votes during the exhibition.
This year’s award winner is Cody Dimmett for his piece “Compassionate Jesus”.

Cody wrote about this piece,
If there is a scripture that puts the whole Gospel in a nutshell, it is the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6:9-13. Jesus’ compassion for others is shown in the Lord’s Prayer. Jesus was a man of deep prayer. As I read the Lord’s Prayer, I see a very personal and compassionate side of Jesus. The God Father to whom I pray treats me as a loving father deals with his own
children. The medium that I chose to work in is called claybord. I worked in scratchboard last year in drawing class and really liked the process of removing the ink to get to the white portion of the board. This year in Advanced Art, my art teacher gave me a piece of claybord to try and I immediately liked it. The black and white qualities of the medium remind me of the crucifixion of Jesus (the black) and his resurrection (the white). I chose the Lord’s Prayer to scratch under the portrait of the crucified Jesus because the Lord’s Prayer not only shows me how to pray but how to live.
